Budgeting and still keeping the kids happy

I have found this quight a stuggle..so what I did was took my pay check cashed it got all the bills out put the money and the bills on the table showed the kids how much of my mmoney goes to each bill then what we have left...then we split up the remainding amount to diffrent things we knew we wanted and needed...It was a very big awakening for them too see how little we actually had for each thing..Now they seem to understand the money and bill concept much better and they have not been asking for as much and also understanding when I say no, why that is
